THE DARK DIWALI

“Yay! Diwali is near it will be fun” Rohan said to his sister Reema. They both were very excited as Diwali was coming. “Papa! Let’s go to buy firecrackers.” said both Rohan and Reema to their father.

“Ok beta, we will go to the market in the evening” said their father. As their father said to them, in the evening they went to the market.

Near the firecracker market there was a small hut where a small girl named Kaamini lived with her 2 brothers and parents. Everyday she watched a hundreds of people buying fire crackers. Everyday she watched the customers her desire to get

the crackers increased but as they were not so rich they couldn’t afford the crackers. As the days were passing by and Diwali was coming near Kaamini was getting even sadder. As she could not even celebrate a festival as others were able to.

Now was the night of Diwali and Rohan and Reema started lighting the firecrackers.

Not only Rohan and Reema were

enjoying the firecrackers, all the children

were lighting the firecrackers except the

poor and the needy. One of them was

Kaamini and her family, for them it was

just a regular day. They were only able

to afford a single diya.

Kaamini was trying to

suffice herself by only seeing this diya.

Rohan and Reema’s parents went to meet one of their colleagues. In the way to their house they saw Kaamini sitting in front of her hut. They noticed no

lamps, decoration lights or crackers in

their hut. They thought that they should

help them. They went to Kaamini and asked

her politely, “Hello child, Why are you

so sad ?” She replied, “I don’t have

firecrackers to burn, colours to decorate our

hut or lamps to light up our hut.”

They both felt sad about her and thought that they should make her happy by giving some firecrackers, new clothes, sweets, lamps and some colors. They went back to home and bought all these things.

When Kaamini saw them bringing the things, she got overwhelmed with happiness.

Rohan and Reema’s parents gave us a very valuable lesson that ‘ALWAYS HELP THE POOR AND NEEDY, YOUR HELP CAN BRING SMILE ON MANY FACES.’
