Operations Update

Winter Staff Treats

Our staff will be spoiled with baked goods and hot coffee for an upcoming Winter Staff Treats event on Feb. 16th during 1^st period. It’s not too late to sign-up to donate goodies for this event or contact co-charis Lindsay Smith and Amy Miller.

Building and Grounds

The next campus clean up is scheduled for March 7th. Hours worked go towards student volunteer hour requirements. Look out for sign-ups on our social channels.

Reminder that BHS spiritwear makes great Valentine’s Day and birthday gifts - available all year long!

Programs Update:

Scholarship Committee

• STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS ARE UP! After lots of hard work by the scholarship team (Lynn Ashby, Katherine Andrew, Nancy Hardison and Bess Creech) and guidance from Mr. Sauls, new online templates were created for our 4 PTSA scholarships, including the newest STEM scholarship in memory of a BHS alumna. This marks a huge leap from the previous paper applications, and they are now available to the class of 2026 via links in the Scholarship Bulletin, with a deadline of April 8th.

VP Communications needed now

We are looking for a person to shadow Dana Deaton for the rest of the year and be the VP Communications next year. Let us know if you know of anyone who may be interested in learning more!

​

• Social media updates multiple times per week
• Knowledge of multiple social media platforms, or a desire to learn
• Proficiency in Canva or other graphics software
• Ability to create graphics and write captions
• Proficiency in Google sites, Google Drive, and Google Workspace, or willingness to learn
• Proficiency in Slack or willingness to manage a workspace
• Work with PTSA president and VPs on BAB and Givebacks as necessary

2026-2027 PTSA Board Nominations

The BHS PTSA Nominating Committee is looking to fill the following positions for the 2026-2027 school year:�

• President(s)-Elect (shadows the President for 2026-2027 school year then takes over the President(s) roll in 2027-2028)
• VP of Budget and Finance (Treasurer-Elect) (shadows the Treasurer during the 2026-2027 year then takes over as Treasurer in 2027-2028)
• VP Communications (manages Google sites, manages social media and produces graphics, manages PTSA website, manages Slack communications, supports President and VPs with BAB and Givebacks)
• VP Operations (manages the Operations Committees: Buildings and Grounds, Teacher Appreciation, Staff Meals and Treats, Open Houses, Teacher of the Year Reception, Retirement Dinner, and Spiritwear)
• VP Programs (manages the Programs Committees: Community Advocacy, Enrichment Programs, Family Support, Jenrette & Jewell Teaching Award, Reflections, and Student Scholarships)
• Secretary (prepares meeting minutes for all Board and General Meetings, helps with Membership, manages and chairs Nominations)

Timeline: Call for Nominations for open positions on social media and in the BAB (late Feb-March).� Nominating Committee works to fill the open positions (early March-April).

May 12th Board PTSA Meeting- the Committee will present the slate of nominees to Board.

May 19th General PTSA Meeting- Membership votes to approve the slate.
