Memories in Family Search
A Quick (and superficial) Review
And
Some Brand New Features
Most of us are familiar
with the Grid View
In December 2016, Family Search added another view called:
List View
_______________
Each Memory is listed on a separate line with columns to display information about the memory:
A tiny Thumbnail of the memory
The Title of the memory if one has been added
A column to add and standardize a Date for the memory
A column to add and standardize a Place for the memory
A link to any Comments which may have been attached to the memory.
If applicable, an icon showing that no one has yet been tagged to this image.

As with the Grid View, you can click on the button at the top of the List View to show all of the memories.
Or, you can click on the button at the
top of the List View to show just the photos.
Or, you can click on the button at the top of the List
View to see just the documents etc.
In December, 2016, Family Search added another tool called:
The Action Menu
The Actions Menu allows you to work quickly, from one place to accomplish several tasks on each memory. Those actions are:
• Rotating it either to the left or the right,
• Downloading it to your computer,
• Adding it to an Album,
• Changing a photo to a document or a document to a photo,
• Moving it to the Archive list,
• Deleting it.
Many are also not aware that there are several ways to Share our memories with others.
To share a memory from the Memories tab on a Person page:
Share Button
Share Options
The Copy Link option will create a unique URL which can be added to emails etc. which will bring the recipient straight to this memory in Family Search
If you have placed items into an Album
in your Gallery,
you can share the
entire album in a similar way:
1. Open the Album
2. Click the Share Button
3. Click the Copy button to create the URL which you can then insert into emails etc.
FamilySearch also reports that: You will soon be able to import your memories into FamilySearch from different social media platforms.
Soon to Come
This presentation is somewhat short and cannot begin to cover questions which team members and patrons may have about using the Gallery in Family Search. It is suggested that remaining time might be used for comments, questions, demonstration and group discussion about using these tools.
