  • Advertisers are always looking for new ways to appeal to their target audience.
  • One method that has been used for a long time is the use of celebrities to sell products, known as celebrity endorsements.

  • Why do you think this is?

  • Can you think of any celebrities that have been used to sell products?

  • List 5 celebrities that get paid to endorse a product or a service. Include the name of the star and the product they sell. (10pts.)

Let’s take a look at some other endorsements and analyze why they were selected to promote the product.

  • On the next 8 slides are celebrities/athletes endorsing a product/service.

  • Write down the celebrity (feel free to search for the person on the internet if you aren’t familiar with them) and the product they are selling. Also include why you think that company selected them to be the “face” of the product. (24 pts.)

Your last task is to create your own celebrity-endorsed campaign.

  • Choose a celebrity or athlete to endorse a product or service that they DON’T already get paid to promote.
    • Name your product (1 pt.) and celebrity (1 pt.) and explain in detail why their image would fit that product (2 pts.) and how you came to your decision (2 pts.).
    • Include a visual of this endorsement (e.g. picture of person with product) (4 pts.). TOTAL 10 PTS.
