Is there a discoverability problem in podcasting?
Short answer:
Yes.
Long answer:
Podcasters have to develop an audience-development strategy to drive their own discoverability.
There is not yet a streamlined way for consumers to organically search for podcasts that will match their interests. Often, it is the pre-existing community and the conversations they have that drive others to discover the content.

Establishing your business objective will make sure you are accurately tracking KPIs and can tell if your podcast is worth continued investment.
Ultimately, you must decide if you want this podcast to help build your brand or a specific person within your company.
Example: The business objective of this podcast is to establish our CEO as a thought leader in the tech space. This will be measured by the increase in speaking opportunities for our CEO.

Establishing the editorial mission is your first step to ensuring you are able to create consistent content. When creating your mission, think about the following questions:
Example: We discuss the future of product design and manufacturing first-hand with leading innovators. We also look at the trailblazing inventions that are enabling new possibilities...products that make: surgery more affordable and accessible; athletes faster, and more competitive; communities more economically stable; food more resourceful and healthy; disabled people more comfortable and mobile; ...and, everything from automobiles to furniture to fashion more beautiful, more useful, and longer-lasting.

Add in time for your host and guest to get comfortable with each other.
Do not interrupt mid-recording as that can ruin a conversation. Record any necessary pickups at the end of the session.
Do not interrupt
Listen to the conversation as its recorded without being in the room. Ideally you have a production space where you can do this as too many people can make everyone uncomfortable.
Listen to the conversation
Share research at least a week in advance with host and guest. Try to conduct a prep call to build the narrative ahead of the recording.
