Quick Eval Tool

The Quick Eval Tool within Brightspace allows instructors to grade submissions for Discussions, Assignments, and Quizzes.

While in this tool, instructors have the ability to evaluate submissions for all courses, or they can select specific courses they wish to evaluate.

Please note that any grade item that is not linked to Discussions, Assignments, or Quizzes will not be viewable in Quick Eval.

Accessing the Quick Eval Tool

To access the Quick Eval Tool, select “Quick Eval” in the navbar when you are logged into Brightspace.

Accessing the Quick Eval Tool

If you access the Quick Eval tool from the home page of Brightspace, the tool by default, will bring up items to be assessed for all courses where you are listed as an Instructor or Graduate TA.

To view items to be assessed for a specific course, you can select the filters button to select which course you want to evaluate in (see image above), or you can access the Quick Eval tool while already in a specific course.

The Activities Tab

To view each activity that can be assessed along with it’s details, select the “Activities” tab. For each activity, you can view the following:

  1. How many students completed the activity

  • How many submissions were evaluated

  • How many evaluations were published to students

By hovering your mouse over an activity, you can see the following options:

  1. Evaluate All: Begin evaluating submissions

  • Submission List: See submission scores, submissions statuses, and feedback which can be published or retracted to students

  • More Actions: Publish evaluations or dismiss activities from showing in Quick Eval (this will not affect the assignment)

The Submissions Tab

In the “Submissions” tab, you can view the following information, which can all be sorted by selecting each header:

  • The student’s name, which you can click to view their submission

  • The name of the activity

  • The course name

  • The submission date and time

  • Type out feedback

  • Attach files or links to your feedback

Discussion Grading

  1. View the student’s post

  • Enter a grade and type feedback

  1. Select “Publish” to submit feedback, or “Save Draft” to save feedback but not release it

  • Toggle between your students submissions at the top right of the evaluation area

Exam/Quiz Grading

  1. View attempt details

  1. In “Evaluation Summary” view auto calculated final grades (these grades can be adjusted) and provide overall feedback

  • Under “Quiz Result” view student answers to each question and assign a score (if not auto-graded)
