OVERVIEW OF

THE ORGANIZATION

13 of 43

HISTORY

In the summer of 1978, three Milwaukee women professionals spent their time organizing a club that would help other professional women. At that time, the group of about 30 would meet up twice a month to have dinner, hear from speakers, make new friends and share their ideas and experiences with each other. They created a dues structure and would form an infrastructure that gave them power. It’s where organizing and power building meet education and women advocacy. It's very “for us by us,” which is empowering and, in our opinion, the best way to move systems forward. There's so much to learn from our foremothers.

WHAT’S IN A NAME?

Our DIMENSIONS - an amalgamation of everything we’ve lived, experienced, created, survived - make us who we are as individuals and who we are as threads in the tapestry that is Professional Dimensions

It is PROFESSIONAL to advocate for yourself, to advance other women peers, to include emotion in decision-making, to affirm your culture and identities, to discuss business and personal balance.

PD is a space to be multidimensional.

2024 Ideation Summit Rethinking Everything - The Power of Dreams

_________________

The Ideation Summit, a gathering that has been taking place for the past 5 years, deliberately brings together corporate leaders in the Milwaukee community. The summit's primary focus is on fostering inclusive leadership, addressing gender and racial equity gaps, and advocating for institutionalized practices that support the progress of all individuals. The discussions at the summit delve deep into the distinct challenges that women encounter as business owners and business leaders. The ultimate goal is to cultivate more advocates, leveraging our influence to create opportunities for women and cultivate the next generation of female leaders.

JENNIFER ALLEN | Director-at-Large,

Professional Dimensions Board of Directors

"It has been an absolute pleasure to work on the PD for the past 4 years. Working with women so deeply committed to equity has been inspiring and has fueled my fire to continue working until we can see equal representation of women, in particular Black and Brown sisters. I have inherited the rebel spirit from my PD sisters which has fueled my commitment to stand in truth as we all navigated these troubled times."

LIZ JOHNSON | Director-at-Large,

Professional Dimensions Board of Directors

“Serving on the Board of Directors of Professional Dimensions has been a joy and a privilege. I feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to work collaboratively with the many ambitious, intelligent, and hard-working women that comprise its leadership. These women have pushed me to reflect on the importance of diverse networks and relationships, as well as to grapple with how I might lead my own firm to be more inclusive and supportive of women, especially women of color. I am particularly proud of the direct and meaningful ways Professional Dimensions benefits the broader Milwaukee community through initiatives that advance the self-sufficiency of women and girls – initiatives like the 2021-23 signature project benefiting houseless women and their children through the local nonprofit organization, Nia Imani Family, Inc.”

DOMINIQUE SAMARI | Director-at-Large, Professional Dimensions Board of Directors

“It is said that women hold up half the sky, but often we do not recognize our individual and our collective gift as women. We have the power and ability to transform our workplaces and communities. In my opinion, women have the ability to transform the world.

I was honored to be asked to join the board of Professional Dimensions because I recognize in our leader, Lauren Feaster, and in the amazing women in this organization, the desire to use our collective power to spark transformation -- for ourselves and for our world.

At Professional Dimensions, we are building bridges, connecting with purpose and imagining a brighter future for our community.

How in the world could I resist being a part of that?”
