What is called linkage?
= Linkage is the close association of genes or other DNA sequences on the same chromosome. The closer two genes are to each other on the chromosome, the greater the probability that they will be inherited together.
The term linkage was coined by TH Morgan, who carried out several dihybrid crosses in Drosophila. With this, he was able to study genes that were sex-linked. He also described the physical association of genes on a chromosome.
