WHAT IS MTSS IN NYC PUBLIC SCHOOLS?

A Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) provides a data-based decision-making framework for our district and school teams to work in partnership with families and their communities to coordinate evidence-research based and culturally and linguistically responsive instruction to match the dynamic learning strengths and needs of our students. This proactive and preventative approach is driven by teams that integrate academic, behavioral, and social-emotional data to ensure that all students have comprehensive support across the school community and within daily core instruction. MTSS provides a framework for schools to strategically allocate and focus resources where they are needed most in order to identify and help students at risk of not meeting grade level expectations.
