What is NWEA?

Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) is a nonprofit organization that has created a set of assessments that are nationally normed, aligned to the Common Core Standards and given using the computer. We give this assessment in Reading, Language and Math three times each year to measure student growth towards the standards and compare that growth to other students in the nation (and world).

The assessments they take are called MAP Growth, and there is a K-2 and a 2-5 version. Students get a score called a RIT score (named after the researcher who created the scale). We expect students to grow a certain number of RIT points each time they take the assessment (September, January and May).
