All Carver Students are expected to take four years of math. Doubling up does NOT get you out of a year of mathematics, it simply allows you to reach higher level courses.

Interested in ALGEBRA 2 HONORS/ PRECALCULUS HONORS?:

Algebra 2 Honors/Precalculus Honors (HA2PC)

Prerequisites: Successful completion of Algebra 1 with an A and approval of the instructor. Students must take the A1 Skills Assessment (INFO FOR A1 SKILLS ASSESSMENT) in early February. — Ms. Hogan

Interested in ALGEBRA 2 HONORS/ PRECALCULUS HONORS?:

• Sign up to take the exam HERE (please sign up by Thursday 1/25!!(this is how I know who to excuse from 8th period the day of the exam).
• Join THIS CLASS on DeltaMath. This is where the exam will actually happen, so it’s important that you join it.
• When is the Algebra 1 Skills Assessment? Thursday 2/1/24 from 11:30AM to 12:45PM (it is a half day for students, you be excused from 8th period class and then will need to stay about 1 hour after dismissal)
• If you are unable to be in school for the A1 Skills Assessment due to quarantining, you will need to email Hogan (smhogan@philasd.org) BY THURSDAY 2/3 AT 9AM to get access to a remote exam. This exam will also ONLY be administered on Thursday 2/1/24 from 11:30AM-12:45PM.

If you sign up for an AP class and you are rostered to it, you will not be permitted to drop it.

We do not recommend taking more than two AP Courses.

Special permission form will be required to take 3 or more APs in one year.

DUAL ENROLLMENT (DE)

*WHAT IS DUAL ENROLLMENT?*

​

Dual enrollment is when a student takes a college course while enrolled in both high school and an Institution of Higher Education. Dual enrollment provides students with an opportunity to complete college-level coursework and earn college credits. Dual enrollment offers rigorous courses and provides an introduction to and preparation for college life and expectations. These programs provide an accelerated pathway through college that saves students time and money.

The School District of Philadelphia will cover the costs of books and tuition for eligible high school juniors and seniors at participating colleges and universities. Each college/university has its own admission requirements so please review before submitting your application.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS (STUDENT ELIGIBILITY)?*

• Enrolled in a School District of Philadelphia high school
• A current junior or senior for the upcoming school year
• Maintaining a cumulative minimum GPA of 2.5*
• Complete the application by the due date**
• Adhering to the code of conduct by not having any disciplinary records of violence on official school record

* Additional criteria may apply depending on the college/university *information from SDP website

** Students must complete the application required by the college/university

*CCP Dual Enrollment Session @Carver: Summer and Fall '25 Application Completion for New Students. Email and Daily announcements will begin week of January 21, 2025.

*CCP Summer and Fall 2025 Catalog Opens: Tentative date for CCP Summer and Fall 2025 catalog to open. New and currently enrolled dual enrollment students will choose courses during this time. Students will be given reminders.

CARVER LATE START/EARLY RELEASE DE

1. The student is on track to meet the graduation requirements of 23.5 credits and has no current and/or history of attendance issues.

*Rising Juniors- 11 credits and Rising Seniors 17.5 credits*

• The student MUST take at least two college courses: one course for the fall semester of Junior/Senior year and one course for the Spring Semester of Junior/Senior year.

​

• The student will not be able to drop a dual enrollment class upon agreement and registration of the course during the school day/year- NO EXCEPTION! dropping the course, will result in an “F” reported on your high school transcript.

​

• The student must be a rising Junior/ Senior with a minimum Cumulative Unweighted GPA of 3.0 to have an early-release dual enrollment schedule.

• If students take a dual enrollment course during the academic school year, the course cannot be taken in place of a graduation requirement. For example, students who register and take English 101 will also be rostered in English in their high school schedule.

CARVER LATE START/EARLY RELEASE DE

DUAL ENROLLMENT (DE) LATE START/EARLY RELEASE Schedule will only be available to students if there is no conflict with your Carver scheduled classes.

SDP reports grades on the high school transcript exactly how the college reports them on the college transcript. If you fail a DE course, it will be reported on your high school transcript.
