Drum Majors attending SFA camp are under the instruction of highly qualified instructors. Instruction will include signal commands, verbal commands, squad leading, conducting, marching, charting, films, lectures and leadership and team building training.

Sunday June 14: Check–in/Registration anytime between 1 – 3:30 p.m.

You must wear your name tag at all times on the upper part of your

body. Meal cards will be issued at the dorms or registration.

What to Bring to Camp:

  • Military baton/mace
  • Whistle
  • Modest, hot-weather/athletic, casual clothes
  • A light jacket because the buildings can get cool during classes.
  • Water bottle or thermos - start hydrating now!
  • Sun hat, sunscreen and sunglasses
  • Athletic (tennis/court) closed-toe shoes
  • Twin XL-size bed sheets, pillow with case, blankets because the dorms get cool
  • Toiletries
  • Swimsuit
  • Toilet paper (not supplied by dorm)
  • Towel (community bathrooms)
  • Medical needs – medication, etc.
  • Pencil and notebook with paper for your classes
  • Umbrella, rain poncho, rain boots…. Prepare for rain!
  • Snacks, if wanted
  • Extra Money: snacks, water, Gatorade, pizza, etc.

Label all your personal belongings.

SFA is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Military Drum Major Camp 2026

General Rules and Information:

  • All campers attend all classes unless ill.
  • The university does not provide health and accident insurance for campers. Any professional medical attention will be at the participant’s or legal guardian’s expense.
  • For the camper’s safety, there will be no leaving campus at any time during the week. If adults or a camper’s band director visits, the camper will need permission from the head counselor to leave the dorm with them and only during free time. To leave campus, please bring a written note signed by a parent/guardian approving the off-campus activity.
  • SFA classes are in session. Campers should not interact with SFA students.
  • There will be no alcoholic beverages or unlawful substances permitted at camp. If there is any indication of a camper's indulgence in alcohol or unlawful substances during the camp, the camper's parents will be notified immediately to come for them, and the camper will be dismissed from the camp.
  • Fighting, vandalism and other serious disobedience of camp rules may be grounds for expulsion. Parents of violators will be notified immediately to come for them, and the student will be dismissed from camp.

Activities and Recreation

  • Swimming, sports and other planned activities in the evenings

Refunds:

No Refunds given on or after June 14

No deposit will be refunded after May 18.

All campers are expected to participate in the entire camp.

Fees:

If driving yourself, a $5/day parking pass MUST be purchased at registration!

Cash or check only!

As per SFA safety policy: In the event of a lost key, $75 fee will be assessed to the camper for re-coring the lock.

Please keep up with your dorm key!
