PBIS

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a framework that promotes positive behavior in students by proactively teaching and reinforcing appropriate behaviors, creating a more positive school climate.

Data-Driven and Tiered Support: PBIS uses data to identify students' behavioral needs and provides tiered interventions, offering additional support to those who require it while reinforcing positive behaviors for all students.

The goal of properly implemented PBIS is to improve academic and behavioral outcomes for all students.

01

Schoolwide Positive Expectations and Social, Emotional and Behavioral Skills are Defined and Taught

Rather than establishing specifically what not to do, all of our schools have define and taught expectations and SEB skills they want to see. Schools have identified 3 positively stated, easy to remember expectations. These should create the conditions for a positive school climate to support teaching and learning. Anyone should be able to walk into the school at any time and ask 10 random students to name the school-wide expectations. At least 80% of the time those students should be able to say what they are and give examples of what they look like in action.

Schoolwide expectations are also reviewed during monthly principal read alouds.

Teach identified PBIS expectations during three academy meetings

    • Assembly, Blacktop/Fields, & Food Service
    • Library, Office, & School Grounds
    • Classroom, Locker Hallways, & Restrooms

Reminders will be identified and be delivered during video bulletins and Academy meetings
