Early to mid-January: COVID-19 first occurrence in Bay Area
February 25th – Mayor Breed declares state of emergency
February 6th – first Bay Area COVID-19 death
February: �Ongoing lack of businesses in Chinese-American businesses, first incidents of racially-motivated violence
February: silent community spread of SARS-COV-2
March 5th: first confirmed community spread in San Francisco
March 16th/17th Bay Area schools closed; Shelter-in-place order for six Bay Area counties – San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Alameda, Contra Costa, and Marin
March 25th: First COVID-19 death in San Francisco
March 20th: California statewide shelter in place order
Late March: Bay Area shelter in place extended to May 4th; restaurants begin closing permanently
