Light & Color Sensor

The light sensor can sort between 8 different colors and you can use this sensor to tell the robot to stop when it senses a certain color or you can use it to follow the black line. You can use it to make robots that sort through color counters or can conduct scientific light investigations.

257 of 515

Distance Sensor

The distance sensor can be used to sense how far a mission is from your robot. It is used to get exact measurements, and can help you when you are trying to figure out how far something is away.

Gracious Professionalism®

Gracious Professionalism is part of the ethos of FIRST. It's a way of doing things that encourages high-quality work, emphasizes the value of others, and respects individuals and the community.

Through Gracious Professionalism, fierce competition and mutual gain coexist. Participants compete intensely while treating each other with respect and empathy. There is no trash talking, nor disingenuous platitudes. Knowledge, competition, and empathy are comfortably blended.

The term was coined by Dr. Woodie Flowers, (1943 - 2019) Executive Advisory Board Chair Emeritus & Distinguished Advisor.

Date: 2/2/2023

Next Steps: We need to work on making our plan reality by writing the code and testing it on the board.

Add Images / videos here: Pictures of your robot or attachments. Screenshots of your program, an image of your strategy template, etc.

Notes from today:

  • What stage(s) of the EDP were you on?
    • We are on the Planning Stage.
  • How did you use the Engineering Design Process?
    • We drew a diagram and planned out what mission we should do first. We decided to start on missions 1 & 2.
  • What worked?
    • We were able to understand how to earn points for missions by watching the mission videos.
  • What didn’t?
    • We didn’t put the easiest missions first and had to change our plan so that it was more practical with the amount of time we have.
