EXPLAIN

New Birth

New birth is when, in response to your faith and repentance, God places His own life inside you, makes your spirit alive, and joins you to Christ. That life produces metanoia: a complete shift in mind and life.

5 of 20

ENGAGE

  • THE CALL TO TEST SALVATION

  • 2 Corinthians 13:5: "Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Jesus Christ is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?"
  • 2 Corinthians 13:5-9 MSG
  • [5-9] Test yourselves to make sure you are solid in the faith. Don’t drift along taking everything for granted. Give yourselves regular checkups.

ENGAGE

The Spark illustration

  • Proverbs 20:27 KJV [27] The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, Searching all the inward parts of the belly.

  • Jeremiah 20:9 NKJV [9] Then I said, “I will not make mention of Him, Nor speak anymore in His name.” But His word was in my heart like a burning fire Shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding it back, And I could not.

7 of 20

ENGAGE

The Fusion: God’s Life in us should change everything

  • 1 Samuel 17:36-37 TLV : Your servant [David] has killed both the lion and the bear, so this uncircumcised Philistine will become like one of them….[37] Then David said, “Adonai, who has delivered me from the paw of the lion … [42] Now when the Philistine looked and saw David, he disdained him… but I am coming to you in the Name of Adonai-Tzva’ot, God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied…50] So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone

ENGAGE

The Quiet Gap

  • Have you ever felt something was missing, even when your life looked fine?
  • Not dramatically missing. Just… not quite there.
  • Write one honest sentence. Share with your group.

10 of 20

EXPLORE

What Have You Tried?

  • Working harder / Improving yourself / Being more disciplined
  • Religion or routines / Success / Relationships / Distraction
  • What helped? What did not last?

11 of 20

EXPLAIN

Created to Carry God

  • God breathed His ruah (spirit/life) into Adam (Gen 2:7)
  • Man was not created just to live. Man was created to carry God.
  • At the fall, the connection was broken. The life withdrew.
  • The container remains. But the power is gone.

Genesis 2:7 — God breathed into his nostrils the breath of life

12 of 20

EXPLAIN

The Turning Point

  • You cannot fix a life problem with effort
  • God is not asking you to fix yourself. He is offering you His life.
  • Conviction → Repentance → Faith → Confession
  • Your spirit is made alive. The Holy Spirit comes to live in you.

Romans 8:11 — The Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in you

13 of 20

EXPLAIN

THE Life of God

  • Eternal life = THE life of God in you NOW
    • Rom 8:9: “…if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.”
    • Rom 8:11: “if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, …He will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.”
    • Ephesians 3:17: “…so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.”
    • 2 Corinthians 4:10-11 (carrying the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body).
  • This is not improvement. This is new creation.

YOU

GOD

YOUR RESPONSIBILITY: RECEIVE THE GIFT OF HIS LIFE IN YOU AND CREATE THE CONDITION FOR HIS LIFE TO GROW IN US

15 of 20

Let This Become Real

The One who created the universe

lives in you.

What could that mean

at its highest?

16 of 20

EXPLAIN

What Happens Next

  • Spirit: made alive immediately
  • Mind: renewed over time (Romans 12:2)
  • Body: learns new patterns (Romans 12:2)
  • Like a pregnancy: life is present before it is visible AND it shapes you from the inside out
  • Like a farmer: create the conditions, the seed does the growing

17 of 20

ELABORATE

  • Do I believe God truly lives in me? Yes / Not sure / No
  • If this is true, what should change in my daily life?
