What is the Dual Enrollment Program?

Students may take courses at a local college & earn credits at the high school and the college
Tuition, fees, books, and application fees are paid for through the Georgia Department of Education for 30 credit hours or 45 quarter hours

Eligibility by Grade Level
Funding for 30 credit hours or 45 quarter hours
After two state funded course withdrawals or failures, a student is no longer eligible to for Dual Enrollment
Self pay can be used for students (9th-12th) who are not eligible for DE funding, or students who have maxed out their funded credit hours
Students cannot receive funding for repeat/retake courses
Males 18 years and older are now required to register with Selective Service in order to receive DE funding

Understand SCHS graduation requirements
You must have a full schedule of 8 classes
You are in charge of ensuring your college courses do not conflict with your SCHS schedule/extracurriculars
Understanding grading of DE classes
A = 95
B = 85
C = 75
D = 70
F = 65
*An additional 10 points will be added to the points above on the transcript for academic courses taken at the college. Non-academic courses are not awarded the 10 points.
**Some colleges after high school may not recognize those 10 additional points.
***The HOPE Program does not recognize the 10 points. Instead, a student’s HOPE GPA will calculate DE courses by adding 0.5 to the grade awarded by the college. Ex. If the student earns an 85 on the college transcript, HOPE GPA will award a 3.5 on the 4.0 scale GPA.
*10 points do not apply to a class that is failed
