Spanish class at Salt Brook School

  • Grades K-6 have Spanish class once per week, for 40 minutes
  • Please check the student’s Spanish google classroom on their iPad for lesson plans and review activities.
  • Students learn Spanish by hearing and reading messages that they understand.
  • Señora Leonard teaches Spanish through memorable songs, card games, stories, activity pages, word games, and electronic learning supports (flash cards, vocabulary games).
  • Students are expected to be active participants in learning and reinforcement activities.
  • Quizzes for grades 3-6 will be announced 2 weeks in advance.
  • As part of the elementary world language program, the class will also have opportunity to learn about other cultures, not just the Spanish speaking world.

Classroom rules for Spanish

When you hear the quiet signal, stop talking! Please be considerate so that everyone can hear the directions.

To maximize learning, let’s create a class culture of courtesy and respect.

Be prepared with Spanish class essentials (folder, pencil, iPad).

Consequences

First time: Verbal warning

Second time: Detention (10 minute recess detention in room 99).

Third time: Detention (student writes a letter to parents, 20 minute detention)
