Step 1: Opening and editing a Canva template

A wide variety of IEEE branded templates are available on https://brand-experience.ieee.org/templates/ieee-canva-templates/

• 1A. Click on a template
• 1B. A new window appears. Click “Use template for new design”
• 1C. The template will open in your Canva account
• 1D. A copy of the template will be created and is ready to be edited

Step 2: Editing a Canva template

Add copy and an image to create a message.

• 2A. Edit the file name
• 2B. Click the “Uploads” �tab to add photographs �and graphic images here
• 2C. Edit copy

Step 3: Using the IEEE color palette

Change the colors to improve readability and accessibility.

• 3A. Click on text or graphic element in the template and a swatch menu will appear in top bar
• 3B. The “Document colors” are �the IEEE color palette
• 3C. Change the color of the type or graphic element
• 3D. Adhere to the IEEE brand color palette found on the last page of each template

Step 4: Formatting text

Highlight the copy to adjust formatting and improve readability of communication.

Canva features:

• 4A. Use only Calibri font in accordance with IEEE brand identity guidelines
• 4B. Decrease or increase font size menu
• 4C. Alignment menu
• 4D. Letter spacing, line spacing, and �padding menu

Step 5: Export feature for sharing

Files can be shared in �many different formats.

• 5A. Click “Share”
• 5B. The “Download” menu allows you to select pages to be exported
• 5C. Click “Download” to complete the export process
