Two paragraphs – each one is an assignment

• What do you want to learn about government that will help you make sense of the America you will inherit?

• 1^st paragraph: During your freshman year in high school you have watched:
• the legislative branch of government use the impeachment process against President Trump
• seen the difficulties local, state and national governments have in responding to the worst pandemic in a 100 years
• seen a radical change in how students are educated
• seen an economic collapse not felt since the Great Depression
• seen multiple examples of the unequal justice system in America and a movement to try to convince local, state and national politicians to address those social, economic and political grievances.
• Your role as an active citizen who understands how government works at the local, state and national level is important to save our democracy and reform it into a better system. With that in mind write your first paragraph telling your government teacher what you want to learn about government that will help you make sense of the America you will inherit?

How can your government teacher help you learn best next year during the Covid 19 pandemic?

• Next year will be jarring, confusing and different than any other year of schooling you have ever had. After going through distance learning this year, tell your government teacher how they can help you best by considering:
• How comfortable you are with the use of technology
• What skills you need taught or refined to handle online learning and disrupted learning
• Do you need emotional support and what kind
• What hardware and software do you need in your house
• Which ways work best to teach you and communicate with you
• What is happening at home that will impact your learning

How will you turn in this assignment?

• I will create a Google document and share it with all students in your class. You should be able to search your pgcps email for “Per. # 4th Quarter Lesson 8” (# = your class period number)
• You will be able to see each other’s work and learn from one another.
• You will write your name, skip a line, then write your message to an American Official in your own document, then copy and paste it into the shared Google doc. I will not provide an example at the top of the class’ Google doc this time.
