Working Definition of Instructional Focus

An instructional focus is a specific and observable pedagogical strategy that addresses the interaction among teachers, students and content (instructional core), and is aligned with the mission and vision of the school. It is intended to address a performance issue linked to standards that has been documented using multiple data sources. The instructional focus creates coherence across content areas, grade spans, and initiatives and is easily understood and articulated by all stakeholders.
