5.1 - Superintendent Report: COVID-19

  • As of today, CUHS has offered in person instruction for 15 school days and distance learning only for 10 school days (closure in response to positive cases). Centennial has offered in person and distance learning for all school days.
  • Meeting scheduled with TCPH to discuss protocols of future positives and how to determine “close contacts”
  • Main issue right now: students wanting to change programs
    • About ⅓ are requests to move to ON CAMPUS
    • About ⅔ are requests to move to DISTANCE LEARNING
      • We have granted approximately 40 appeals in these situations
      • We’ve denied approximately 5, but this number will go up now that classes on DL are full

5.1 - Superintendent Report: Curriculum Presentations

  • Last meeting we discussed Board Policy related to oversight of curriculum
  • The Board expressed an interest in being more informed about what curriculum is used by teachers to they could answer questions from constituents
  • The Board also expressed a desire to NOT micromanage or inappropriately interfere with teacher and administrative responsibilities
  • Idea:
    • Similar to Dept Chair monthly reports, but this year, focus on curriculum
    • Superintendent create a template for presentations in consultation w/ Board to streamline information presented
    • Specific questions from the Board for specific departments could be shared ahead of time so they could be addressed during these presentations
