STAR Reading Assessment: A School-Wide Screener

  • At the end of the first paragraph on the Overall English/Language Arts Level you will find your student’s reading level by grade equivalent.
  • CHS will provide remediation for students below the 8th-grade reading level. Remediation involves being tagged during XLT to participate in the Freckle Intervention Program, working on specific skill deficits determined by the STAR Reading Assessment. If the student or parent feels the scores is not indicative of their reading ability, students can retake the test.

  • The Star Reading Test is given in the fall, winter, and spring during XLT.
