What is an Instructional Framework?

An Instructional Framework is:

A shared vision of effective instruction.
Learner-centered.
Applicable across all content areas and levels.
The foundational piece that drives daily instructional and assessment practices.

What is out there in the world of instructional Frameworks?

We recognize that there are various divisions who have already leaned into this work and created some thoughtful designs or representations with key foundational pieces of effective instruction that have indicators for each foundational element. These of course are centered around the idea or belief that the instructional framework ● Articulates the core beliefs and expectations of teaching and learning ● Develops a common language to facilitate instructional conversations among educators, students, parents, and caregivers to drive continuous improvement. ● Provides resources to support high quality instruction. ● Ensures a consistent approach to monitoring teaching and learning. Realizing that resources can provide some additional insight, we reviewed these school divisions designs and language which represents the indicators of their beliefs and expectations. What I appreciate about VB is the foundational pieces of instruction have indicators or markers to guide understanding for example, when I plan I design clear standards based learning goals etc.
