What is AI?

AI is a tool, not a shortcut

AI can help you brainstorm, revise, or get unstuck—but it can’t learn for you. You’re still responsible for understanding and doing your own work.

Protect your digital identity

  • Never enter personal info (like your full name, location, or photos) into AI tools. Even ‘free’ tools can store or share your data.
  • Be transparent
    • Using AI isn’t cheating if you’re honest about how you used it. Saying ‘I used MagicSchool AI to help me summarize this’ demonstrates academic integrity. However, using AI to do your work for you is academic dishonesty and will result in consequences both in school and in the real world.
  • When in doubt, ask!
    • If you're not sure whether using an AI tool is okay, ask your teacher first.

Stick to Approved Tools

  • MagicSchool is the approved generative AI tool for Leander ISD. Teachers must open a room and select specific tools for students to use in MagicSchool.
  • Remember: Not all AI tools are safe or accurate; others may collect your data or give misleading information. Many tools also require users to be 18 or over.
