The most basic check is a cookie-based check to ensure that sharer does not come back as a friend. This is done by cookie-ing all sharers and friends separately.
IP Based Check
The second level of check is IP based checks and IP logging. This is done to ensure the IP address of the sharer and the referrer is different. If, yes, there is more reliability of it not being the same person.
Social Identity Based Check
Additionally, if you use our integration of Social Login, there is an additional level of security to ensure that the referrer has a verified Facebook identity associated. If not, we can add the authentication step within Refer-A-Friend as well.
