THE CLASSIFICATION OF POSSIBLE HAZARD
1. PHYSICAL HAZARD
2. MECHANICAL HAZARD
The machine and equipment that the farm workers used are hand tractor, water pump, hand sickle or “garab” and threshing which may cause injuries or accidents if it’s not use properly and not well maintained by the farm workers.
3. CHEMICAL HAZARD
The chemical hazard that the farm has is when applying pesticides or insecticides that might cause dermatitis and other skin diseases to the farm workers.
4. BIOLOGICAL HAZARD
According to the owner of the farm, the biological hazard that the farm has are borer, black bug, snail, rats, and the dangerous one is snake which may cause a threat to their lives.
5. PSYCHOSOCIAL HAZARD
The farm workers are more concerned about the weather. The destructive weather conditions have the ability to affect the farmers that may cause them fatigue and stress. The crops may be destroyed by excessive rainfall and can affect the livestock.
SOLUTIONS TO REDUCE OR ELIMINATE THE RISK
1. WEARING PROPER PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
Wearing a proper personal protective equipment can protect people while working, it can reduce the number of severities of farm work related injuries and illnesses.
2. SAFETY AND HEALTH IN AGRICULTURE
This practice is intended to raise awareness of the hazards and risks associated with agriculture and promote their effective management and control to help prevent occupational accidents and diseases and improve the working environment in practice.
3. PROVIDE TRAINING
Safety training enables farmers to avoid serious and fatal accidents. Use chemical pesticides and fertilizers safely especially in using mechanical equipment. Reduce the income lost to agricultural accidents.
4. MAINTENANCE OF MECHANICAL AND TRADITIONAL EQUIPMENT
To avoid mechanical problems and physical injuries that may lead to death.
