Recording others on campus…

Ed Code Section 51512

The Legislature finds that the use by any person, including a pupil, of any electronic listening or recording device… without the prior consent of the teacher and the principal of the school… disrupts and impairs the teaching process… and such use is prohibited.

California Penal Code 632c

In California, the legality of recording someone without their consent in public hinges on the issue of reasonable expectation of privacy. Under California law, it is generally legal to record someone in public where there is no reasonable expectation of privacy. This means that in places like streets, parks, or public events, recording is typically permissible.

Behavior in the Community

“I wanted to let you know I went over to the newly renovated Chic-Fil- A yesterday at the Tustin Marketplace, asking the owner for a dine out night for a _______ fundraising event. He asked what school I was from and when I said Beckman, he was very hesitant.  He said, "other high schools (they) host don't disrespect his business like the Beckman kids do." He continued, " they park their e-bikes right in front of the doors, blocking other customers entry into the restaurant. The Beckman students are loud, disrespectful, and he's had some of his property damaged."  He can tell they are from Beckman as they have the school logo on their clothes.”

  • Please begin to process, comprehend, and navigate these new tools. While it will allow huge discoveries, how will humans be a part of that future?

  • Research possible careers that will work alongside AI programs or be devoid of AI encroachment.
