"I benefited tremendously from the PLS CV workshop, and will highly recommend it from anyone needing a resume or CV. They gave me direction to hopefully land my next job!”

-Kristopher Ingram, Class of 2025 (right)

“I am so grateful that I attended the PLS CV workshop. I honestly had no clue how to properly format a curriculum vitae. All the mentors from both hospital and community settings were extremely helpful with tips on areas to improve.”

-Thao Aparicio, Class of 2024

Methodology

  • Because of COVID-19 restrictions, the Epsilon Beta Phi Lambda Sigma chapter has had difficulty effectively host career development opportunities, such as CV development. We also felt that our chapter had a lot to offer our College’s students in terms of creating leadership development opportunities.
  • It was important to our chapter that, as the premiere pharmacy leadership society, we needed to provide these opportunities to the Classes of 2024 & 2025.
  • We also prioritized providing meaningful, unique opportunities to the Classes of 2022 & 2023 who may be interested in specialties outside of inpatient pharmacy, such as long-term care pharmacy.
  • A committee of 8 PLS members developed the workshop and executed the event.
  • The workshop took place on March 29th, 2022 from 5:30 - 7:30 PM on our campus.
  • Students RSVP’d through Google Forms.
  • Pharmacists and career specialists from the following institutions were invited from the following community partners:
    • Perrone Pharmacy
    • Medical City Fort Worth
    • Baylor Scott & White All-Saints
  • Our pharmacy program hosted virtual curriculum the last two years which may have made accessing career development resources difficult for younger cohorts.
  • The Epsilon Beta chapter was proud to launch our inaugural in-person CV workshop for students pharmacists to experience multiple specialties.

“It was important to our Executive Board to jumpstart a leadership curriculum in our pharmacy program. After the pandemic, we were very grateful to host our first CV workshop in-person with many community partners.” - Rebecca Nelson, Class of 2023 & ‘21-22 President

"When reviewing CVs for PLS applications, I quickly realized the lack of CV training we had at our school. This workshop allowed us to be a resource for students to develop or fine tune their CVs so that they could be a strong PLS applicant." - Manoj Patel, Class of 2023 & ‘21-22 Chapter Delegate

  • 14 PLS Epsilon Beta members, 12 non-members, 5 pharmacotherapy faculty, 2 community pharmacists, and 1 career development specialist attended. 5 panelists are Phi Lambda Sigma alumni members.
  • For future CV workshops, we plan to collaborate with other organizations and our Career Readiness Center.
  • Epsilon Beta plans to host more professionals who represent non-traditional pharmacy career paths, such as industry or association management.

Thank you to Drs. Taylor Benavides, Robert Haight, Meenakshi Ramanathan, Brittany Torres, Megan Wesling, Marcus Zavala, Rachel Zabaldano, and Cassie Ardry for supporting this opportunity for student pharmacists.
