How the YCA Program Works

Student transfers to YCA.

Eligible students can graduate from YCA with a high school diploma.
If additional grades are still needed before graduation, the student transfers back to their homeschool to complete remaining requirements.

REAL-WORLD SCENARIOS
Two Ways Credit Recovery Can Help
SCENARIO 1
9th grade → back on track
A student has 4 credits and is classified as a 9th grader, but should be a 10th grader.
Recover the missing 2 credits needed for 10th grade classification while continuing to accrue credits needed to advance to 11th grade.
After YCA graduation, transfer back to the traditional school to complete high school.
SCENARIO 2
Senior → diploma
A senior has been unsuccessful in the traditional School.
Transfer to YCA.
Complete the required credits within one semester.
Receive a high school diploma from YCA.

Homeschool Students
Unless a student has credits from an accredited school or homeschool program, they are only eligible for credit recovery to recover credits for 9th grade.

Does the student have credits from an accredited school or homeschool program?
YES
Credit recovery can address the applicable missing credits.
NO
Eligibility is limited to recovering credits for one grade level.
Use the student’s official transcript and school history to determine the appropriate recovery plan.
