Feel free to implement in a way that works best for you and your classroom. Some options are:

Introduce one pod per week for 8 weeks.

  • Monday: Play the lyric video at the beginning of each pod for your students to read and sing along with.
  • Tuesday-Thursday: Play the yoga instruction videos for your students to follow along with.
  • Friday: Display the discussion prompt and guide students in a mindful discussion.

Utilize the elements that you feel most resonant with. If you find the music helpful to your classroom climate but are not sure about the yoga practices, feel free to integrate the music and let students move as they like.

Revisit pods as you wish! If a certain song or activity really fits for your group, integrate it often.

Some teachers open the week with Pod One: Be Welcome and close the week with Pod 8: Until We Meet again.

PRESS PLAY on song lyric slides and all slides with photo images to play the videos!

Key Considerations for Integrating Yoga in Classrooms

In this resource you will find a variety of yoga videos led by expert children’s yoga teachers. Pods 1-4 feature two videos: one dedicated to learning the postures and the other pairing the postures with the music. Pods 5-7 include one video each.

  • Let students know their safety and the safety of their classmates is of highest importance.
  • Gently encourage students to give the practices a try without forcing or demanding.
  • If students prefer to observe, please allow them to. Observation is a valid form of participation.
  • Every body is different. Every body will look different when practicing yoga postures. It is not important, or even possible, for everyone to look the same.
  • Allow students to move in ways that feel natural to them.
  • Encourage students to breathe and move mindfully.

Tips for Guiding Mindful Discussions with Young Children

  • The last slide in each pod includes a discussion prompt that builds on the theme of the pod.
  • Have students sit in a circle where everyone can be seen and heard.
  • Display the prompt. Ask students to listen to the prompt and pause before answering.
  • Read it aloud, or invite a student to do so. Give students some time to reflect on the prompt.
  • Go around the circle taking turns answering. Ask students to speak one at a time and really listen with their whole selves as their classmates share their answers.
  • There are no “right and wrong” answers to these prompts. Mindful dialogue isn’t about correcting or judging each other’s responses.
  • This is a time to be together in a way that accepts everyone as they are, with curiosity and kindness.
