Which bath bomb dissolves quicker... Lush Brand or DIY bath bomb?
Procedure for DIY bath bomb
Procedure for experiment
Procedure
We predict that the store bought bath bombs will dissolve faster because they have the exact ingredients/chemicals. Unlike homemade bath bombs that have ingredients/chemicals to substitute for the real ingredients.
HYPOTHESIS
The purpose of our experiment is to find out which bath bomb dissolves quicker, the DIY bath bomb or Lush bath bomb. What makes a bath bomb dissolve is the citric acid and baking soda. This creates an eruption of fizz and colors. A bath bomb is a hard-packed mixture of dry ingredients which has an effervescent appearance when wet. They are used to add essential oils, scents, bubbles and colors to bath water. The reason we were interested in this idea is because bath bombs are getting really popular and they also seem really fun to make. We have never tried bath bombs before and thought it would be interesting to make them and test how quickly they dissolve.
Purpose
As soon as we dropped the DIY bath bomb in the water it started to fizz. It dissolved in 1 minute and 15 seconds and turned the water a violet and pink color. Once we refilled the bucket and dropped the Lush bath bomb in it slowly dissolved. As a result the Lush bath bomb took 18 minutes and 15 seconds. Some errors that occurred during our experiment were that the DIY bath bomb divided in two. We also had problems with the timer, It didn’t start on time so we followed the clock. We reject our hypothesis because we discovered that the DIY bath bomb dissolved quicker than the Lush bath bomb.
