Major Elements

  • Major Elements can be found in a separate table below the Specific Emphasis Elements Table at the bottom of the sequence table and are highlighted in the sequence tables in yellow/purple colors

  • Major Elements will incur a (-1.0) deduction if

omitted from the sequence. In order to avoid the

(-1.0) deduction completion of 50% of the Major

Element must be recognizable. A Major Element

may be repeated to receive credit.

Explanation of Bonuses - SEE Virtuosity

  • Specific Emphasis Elements (SEE’s) Virtuosity

  • SEE’s are evaluated “per part”, “per section” or “global”

  • There are + 0.2 SEE Virtuosity Bonus available on all events

  • When evaluating SEE’s for virtuosity, award the bonus if the defined criteria is fulfilled 75% of the time in the multiple parts or sections

Explanation of Bonuses - Open Virtuosity

  • Open Virtuosity

  • Awarded for skills exhibiting exemplary artistry, exceptional proficiency, extreme amplitude or superior athletic ability regardless of the difficulty of the skill

  • There are + 0.2 of Open Virtuosity available for FX, SR, PB & HB and + 0.3 of Open Virtuosity for PH & VT

  • Open Virtuosity may be applied to SEE Virtuosity

  • In the Still Rings 10-11 & 12-13 sequence a dismount choice allows a gymnast to earn one of their + 0.1 in Open Virtuosity if performed

  • This bonus is awarded provided the landing meets FIG requirements for a stuck dismount
  • There is no Stick Bonus on PH & VT

Evaluation Process

  1. Evaluate for execution deductions taking note of any omitted Major Elements
  2. Evaluate the Specific Emphasis Elements and determine if

+ 0.2 can be awarded for meeting the criteria of at least 75% completion on “global” or “multiple skill” SEE Virtuosity Bonus for one or two SEE’s

  • Award Open Virtuosity for specific a skill or for a third SEE

and Stick Bonus if applicable

  • Add any awarded bonuses to the 9.5 base score to determine the Start Value
  • Subtract the deductions from Step 1 from the Start Value

to arrive at a final score

Judging Certification Testing
