“In our country, 17 schools were chosen as pilot schools. Our school, Manisa Şehitler Secondary School, was one of them. At the start of the project, we divided students into control and experimental groups. The control group didn’t use any applications, while the experimental group learned in detail using the Arete app on mobile phones and tablets, along with course booklets and maps provided by European Schoolnet. The topics covered included continents, climates, rainfall types, animal species, and cultural heritage.”

“Before we started using the app, we gave two classes a pre-test. After the app use, we gave a post-test and then a retention test three weeks later. We checked the results against the right answers and sent the scored tests to European Schoolnet. The scores improved from the pre-test to the post-test in the class that used the ARETE app, showing it helped students learn.”

“We were invited to the 39th Science Projects Meeting in Brussels, Belgium, in March 2023 to evaluate the results of ARETE Pilot 2. During the workshop, we assessed the application from all angles. The app will make social studies lessons more enjoyable and help students retain information. Additionally, it will provide easy access to materials when course materials can’t be brought to class.”
