Activity Instructions

  • Construct a model/diagram of the simple transcript that follows representing entities, attributes, and inheritance.
  • No need to adhere to any specific modeling standard/framework/language as long as your thought process is written somewhere.
  • This activity is meant to measure consensus when it comes to core entities and relationships so feel free to take liberties with any extra information that is not defined in the slides themselves.
  • Send a picture/image/PDF of your model to evan.christensen@utah.edu.
  • We’ll compare everyone’s models and discuss similarities & differences in our next meeting.

Additional Metadata

  • GENE_A (accession GKSG000001.1) is the Sequence Annotation Group Mock Gene A. It is a protein coding gene with 2 associated transcripts. Transcript_A1 (accession GKST000091.1) which contains all the exons and Transcript_A2 (accession GKST000101.2) which is an alternate splice form that skips the middle exon.
  • Exon start and end coordinates are given for genome build SA_human_v1 and the annotation source file is GKS-anno-hsapien-v1.gff
  • Coordinates are genomic coordinates. For purposes of this activity, genome build is GRCh38.1.
