VISION

MISSION

The mission of the Center Point-Urbana Community School District is to develop successful, life-long learners by providing a safe and caring environment, a stimulating curriculum, and a dedicated staff working with supportive parents in a friendly, small-town atmosphere.

Building Action Steps

  • Continue with school walk-through form to provide multi-source feedback to teachers.
  • Share School Improvement Plans (SIPs) reflective of District Goals with the Intermediate Staff .
  • Develop and measure Tier 1 student proficiency on essential standards.
  • The Intermediate Staff will provide a systematic process for intervention and extension.
  • The Guiding Coalition will improve teacher efficacy through implementation of peer observation, social persuasion and reflective practice.
  • Collaborative Teams will use the Critical Issues rating scale three times a year, creating their own goal based on ratings to reemphasize distributed leadership during preservice.

Indicators of Success

  • 80% of all students will be proficient in Tier I core instruction.
  • 100% of students will be proficient on all essential standards by the end of the school year .
  • 90% ISASP data of students meeting or exceeding expected growth.
  • Commendable (or above) rating for School Performance Profiles (Fall 2025).
  • 90% on Staff Collaborative Culture PLC Survey.
  • 100% of Staff Complete Two Peer Observations.

SAFE & CARING CULTURE

Building Action Steps

  • Monitor and sustain the Character Strong (SEL) curriculum.
  • Apply and monitor school safety procedures, protocols, and drills. Will also monitor conditions outside and inside (weather, temp, etc.) to ensure all students are safe.
  • The SEBH Team will determine movement criteria (in/out/on) for Tier 2 and Tier 3.
  • The SEBH team will engage in consistent two-way SEL communications with all stakeholders including staff, other schoolwide teams, community partners, families, and out-of-school time providers.
  • Monthly structured activities will be implemented , allowing teachers to reflect on and develop their social, emotional, and cultural competencies. These activities will focus on self-care, mindset examination, and bias awareness, ensuring accessibility and relevance for everyone.

Indicators of Success

  • 100% of all safety drills (fire, tornado, ALICE, etc.) scheduled and completed.
  • 100% secure buildings during school hours, with safety/security breaches documented and addressed.
  • 10% growth in the composite SEL competencies score as measured by the tri-annual SEL assessment.
  • 100% of staff participate in the SEBH team developed survey.

COMMUNICATION

Building Actions Steps

  • Engage with The Donovan Group to continue and improve the district’s communications.
  • Increase participation from all groups and engage in ongoing, real-time communication through the district’s platforms.
  • Develop platforms to engage the broader community not directly connected to the school.

Indicators of Success

  • Standards will be entered three times a year in Infinite Campus. Report cards will be sent home to families. These standards will be shared with respective families by September 13, 2024.
  • Intermediate Principals will directly communicate to their respective families every 3-5 weeks regarding relevant information as defined by Iowa Standards for School Leaders (ISSL) communication criterion.
  • Intermediate Teachers will communicate with families two times a month with a grade level newsletter.
  • Intermediate teachers will share activities on the district's social media platforms, highlighting achievements, learning moments, and engaging content from teachers.
