SHELBY MCKENZIE, HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAMS

WHAT IS A DUAL ENROLLMENT COURSE?

  • A dual enrollment course allows a student to earn high school credit AND college credit simultaneously!
  • Our program is unique because we send Northeast State instructors to Sullivan East High School to teach college-level courses.
  • In most cases, these courses are transferable to other colleges and universities. This means that your student is making progress on their college degree while they are still in high school!

MIDDLE COLLEGE CONSIDERATIONS

STUDENTS WILL ENROLL IN RIGOROUS, COLLEGE-LEVEL COURSEWORK AND THIS COURSEWORK WILL APPEAR ON A COLLEGE TRANSCRIPT WITH NORTHEAST STATE REGARDLESS OF THE GRADE THAT IS EARNED AT THE END OF THE COURSE.

BECAUSE OF THE FULL-TIME COLLEGE SCHEDULE THAT STUDENTS WILL HAVE, IT COULD MAKE PARTICIPATING IN ELECTIVE HIGH SCHOOL COURSEWORK DIFFICULT. STUDENTS SHOULD STILL BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN BAND, SPORTS, AND OTHER AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES.

STUDENTS WHO GRADUATE FROM THE MIDDLE COLLEGE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO UTILIZE THE TENNESSEE PROMISE SCHOLARSHIP AS THIS SCHOLARSHIP IS RESERVED FOR RECENT HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES WHO HAVE NOT EARNED AN ASSOCIATE’S DEGREE.
