Students, welcome to your 8th grade Reading class. This year might be filled with uncertainty, but rest assured that together we will have a successful year.

Curriculum and Goals:

  • Expert 21 and I-Ready is the curriculum
  • You will meet the following goals after completing this course:
    • Read and respond to a variety of informational texts, narrative nonfiction, expository texts, digital genres, and arguments
    • Write from sources using textual evidence to support analysis, reflection, and research
    • Comprehend text using multiple strategies including: predicting, summarizing, sequencing, comparing and contrasting, inferencing, and draw conclusions
    • Demonstrate knowledge of grade-level vocabulary

    • Read 20 minutes at home everyday
