Send an email, secure a phone call, set reminders

  • Send an email reaching out
  • Request an “informational interview”
  • If you do not hear back in a reasonable time frame, send a follow up
  • Send your resume and a reminder the day before your call

Dear Mr/Ms. XXX:

I am a current junior at Connecticut College majoring in X and minoring in X. I noticed you graduated from Connecticut College and are in X industry. I too am hoping to pursue a career in X. I wonder if you would be available to speak briefly over the phone, as I am very interested to learn about your journey from Connecticut College into X industry. Send a Thank You

  • After the call, send an email thanking them for their time and address follow up items
  • Write the thank you in a way that will continue the conversation
  • If they put you in contact with another person, keep the first person updated
  • Follow up and stay in contact
  • Remember the details
