CHALLENGE:

How do we provide security to those who must travel alone - rather that is a simple trip to the grocery store or a walk back to their apartment?

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Provide accurate proximity data using sonar device
  • Detect humans with small error margin
  • Use sonar data to approximate distance of detected humans
  • Combine this data to create states that will track GPS, alert authorities, and output loud noise
  • Ship GUI that integrates all functions in easy to use package

By combining existing technologies, our prototype is both cost effective and efficient in tracking strangers that enter in a certain proximity.

Cost Effectiveness:

  1. Sonar - $3
  2. Camera - $5
  3. Raspberry Pi - $30

These costs can further be reduced by mass manufacturing of the prototype.
