Step 1:

Make a material list for beetlebots.

1.5V motor

AA battery holder

SPDT switch

AA battery

Electrical Tape

heat shrink tubing

Wire(Should be 22 AWG solid)

Plastic or wooden pearl

spade connectors

Step 2:

Use laser cut to print a piece of cardboard, then glue the SPDT switches on it.

Step 3:

Examine or test your motors to determine their polarity, then glue the motor plate by using the laser cut down onto the back of the battery holder.

Step 4:

  • Solder together the 2 switches' NC terminals.
  • Solder together their NO terminals, the middle legs.
  • Connect the common leg of each switch to the front terminal of its nearest motor.
  • Solder a wire between the 2 motors’ rear terminals.
  • Connect another wire from either one to any contact point on the battery holder that’s electrically in between the 2 batteries.

Step 5:

Solder the battery holder’s positive lead to the switches’ NC terminals, and its negative lead to either of the switches’ NO terminals.

Step 6:

Unbend a paper clip, slip it through the bead.

Then glue each end of the clip to the corners of the battery holder at the back.

Step 7

Use a heat gun to shrink pieces of heat-shrink tubing onto the motor shafts.

Remove the insulation from the spade connectors, and unbend 2 paper clips. Slip the connectors over the paper clips, squeeze them down with pliers and solder in place. Dress up the connection with some wide heat-shrink tubing.
