Drama Club Presents
"The Bugs"
You won't be scared of the cute bugs in "The Bugs!"
The after school Drama program will be presenting a hysterical production with a great environmental lesson this Thursday and Friday night (4/18 and 4/19) at 7:00 pm!
Tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for anyone under 18 and will be sold at the door.
The PTA would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to you all for making our inaugural Heritage night a success on Friday, April 12! We had 7 display tables, sharing history, decorations, and clothing from Peru, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, India, Italy, Israel, and the Philippines. Families also brought homemade delicious foods to share; pupusas, pao bhaji, tapioca pudding, pancit to name a few!
We would also like to thank the groups who dazzled us with their performances and even taught us some moves.
Our heartfelt gratitude to all the parents and community members who participated in any way. This event would not have been possible without you all. We would like to extend an extra special thanks to Ms. Stuti Shah, who spent the entire time drawing beautiful henna designs.
Looking forward to making this an annual event and continuing to share our diverse cultures with each other.
Thank you from Keri, Melanie, and the planning committee!

Additional Summer Program Registration
Online enrollment for the Innovative Pathways High School and Summer Math Scholars programs is open for current HCPSS students. Families can find up-to-date course information and enrollment directions on the Summer Programs webpage.
On May 1, all sixth and seventh grade students at Mayfield Woods MS will be taking a county provided well-being survey during SEL/Advisory. The purpose of this survey is to learn more about student’s experiences at school, and better understand student skills, strengths, and challenges. Students will be asked to self-reflect on self-management skills, emotional regulation, positive and challenging feelings, and supportive relationships. Survey results will be used to help guide county/school level SEL focus for future.

Take Our Child to Work Day
This coming Thursday, April 25th, has been designated as Take Our Children to Work Day. The program was created as an educational experience for children. It provides an opportunity for children to become more aware of their parents’ work day and encourages them to think about their futures. A student in our school system that is participating in this program will be considered to be on a field trip and will not be marked absent for the day. Please complete the below form and submit to the office if your child will be accompanying you to work.
LOCAL DISCRETIONARY ABSENCE REQUEST/APPROVAL FORM
Spring has sprung and it brings with it an awesome display of blooming flowers, trees AND a wicked allergy season. We have begun to see a significant rise in students visiting the health room due to seasonal allergy issues. Itchy watery eyes, red and swollen eyes, itchy runny nose and sneezing to name a few. All these things can make it very difficult for students to focus on their school work.
If your child suffers with seasonal allergies, we encourage you to administer their daily allergy medication, eye drops (if needed) and any maintenance inhalers as prescribed by their doctor at home each morning prior to coming to school. ***Below is a medication form which can be completed by the doctor and returned to school with the student's medication if you would like the health room to administer medication daily or on an as needed basis***
The students enjoy being outside in the warmer temperatures and beautiful weather for PE and recess, but once inside they begin to feel the effects of the pollen. We recommend they wash their face and hands as soon as they come inside. We do not, unfortunately, have any medication, eye drops, Benadryl etc in the health room to administer to students unless it is provided from home (see above).
Ms. Hunter and I are always available to answer questions. Please reach out to us with any concerns.
Have a wonderful day,
Tracy Jerome RN and Gia Hunter CNA (Health room staff at MWMS) 410-313-5026

We are in active swing with our state testing season. We are finishing up ELA Testing today and will move on to Social Studies testing the first week of May. Make ups will happen next week for any students who missed any parts of the ELA testing. Our students have been working hard all year, and this is their opportunity to show what they know regarding the standards they have been taught. Please see the testing dates below for grades 6-8.
*If testing dates need to be changed, we will communicate that information to families.

Parents/guardians whose children are eligible for bus transportation are asked to register to receive bus service each year to help the school system plan for student transportation needs. The transportation registration process will open at 9 a.m. Monday, April 8 through May 31, and will be completed online via HCPSS Connect Synergy. Registration must be done for each eligible child.
To be eligible for bus service, your child’s home address must be outside of a school’s walk zones. You can verify address eligibility in the HCPSS School Attendance Area Locator. After inputting your address, a window will appear that will indicate either bus or walk for each school level. Please note, the attendance area locator also includes a link for the bus stop locator, which is set for the current school year. Bus stop information for the 2024-2025 school year will be available in August.
