A direct object is the thing or person something happens to in a sentence. It answers the question whom? or what?
Example of direct object and DOP:
We buy a pizza. Señor Lechuza wants to eat it.
Compramos una pizza. El señor Lechuza la quiere comer.

A direct object pronoun replaces a direct object noun.

The direct object pronoun goes directly before the conjugated verb.
El señor Lechuza lo quiere.
If there is an infinitive straight after the conjugated verb, the direct object pronoun either goes right before the conjugated verb or attached to the end of the infinitive.
