For elementary students, we offer 11 titles total. Each title explores a different career pathway and introduces several careers within that pathway. We’ve found that learning about your career interests at a young age decreases dropout rates.

Developmentally-appropriate content

This series best serves students of all abilities capable of completing age-appropriate math, science, language arts and developmentally-appropriate hands-on activities

Highly interactive hands-on activities such as:

Using a teddy bear as a patient to learn about health care.

Learning to make change with play money to introduce banking careers.

Using a trowel and pots to grow seeds.

Students working significantly below grade level

These students are generally capable of participating in life activities with assistance.

They can follow simple one or two step instructions and can perform basic academic skill tasks.

They are generally learning to live and work in a supported setting

It’s good for students with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities, low functioning Autism, low functioning emotional and behavioral disorder, and low functioning learning disabilities

The two reading levels included are 3^rd-5^th grade and 2^nd-4^th grade with audio for low and non-readers. We do not put the student’s reading levels on their worksheets.

Teacher-led approach:

Students watch the teacher perform the activities and then perform them with assistance and support.

Use hands-on tools with curriculum in print, on computer, projector, interactive white board, iPad or combination.

Each “title” is also referred to as a “kit”. Our kits come with everything you need to teach your students real job skills. Our Kits come with detailed instructors’ notes, all the tools and materials needed to perform the job tasks (for example, the Small Engine Repair title comes with a working small engine that students get to take apart, change the oil, etc), fun and engaging student instructions, “first look” PowerPoints with audio, knowledge-based assessments, work performance benchmarks, parental involvement brochures, and certificates of completion.

They also come with a flash drive with all of the raw digital files, so you’re getting actual word documents and PowerPoints that you can edit and customize however you want. This is especially helpful for remote and hybrid learning situations, because the students can complete the activities in the Microsoft word documents and upload them instead of having to print the document out and scan it to send it back.

The student activities are uniquely correlated to job skills and academics to provide authentic work-based learning experiences in the classroom.

When you purchase our Adapted curriculum you receive two levels of instruction: our general curriculum (which already is differentiated into two reading levels), and the adapted version of the general curriculum. So it’s kind of like a “two for one”

Evidence Based Practices

We’ve incorporated multiple evidence-based strategies into our Adapted program, such as:

Much like our other Project Discovery products, our Job Skills Training uses hands-on instruction to teach students how to perform a specific job; however, it’s much more in depth than the Career Exploration. Rather than having shorter courses that allow students to explore several careers over the course of a semester, students focus on a single career pathway for the entire semester. It's an excellent option for 18+ programs or those looking for a day-to-day lesson plan.

Our Job Skills Training series has competency-based day by day detailed lesson plans to prepare students for the workplace. Students learn job-related skills, life skills, academic skills, and workplace safety.

They exit the program with a certificate of skills completion for a successful transition to employment.

It’s also uniquely designed to meet nationally-validated business and industry standards allowing your students to leave school with marketable skills.

Especially good for High School and 18-21 year old programs

It’s ideal for students who can follow detailed, multi step instructions and can perform higher levels of academic skill tasks. Also good for students at risk

There are two levels of Job Skills Training: Basic and Enhanced. They’re each 90 days, so it’s a full semester. When I move on to the Enhanced titles, you’ll see that the titles are mostly the same. It’s really intended for Basic to be semester one and Enhanced to be semester two.
