Reviewing Student Paperwork

  • Make sure that the project is safe for the student.
  • Make sure that they are following all project rules - Ex. Don’t grow bacteria at home.
  • Complete and sign paperwork BEFORE any experiment begins.
  • If other signatures are needed (i.e. doctor, scientist, etc.) make sure they are also completed BEFORE any experiment begins.

Project Tips

  • Projects that are done often to stay away from
    • Which popcorn pops the best? Which battery lasts the longest? Which diaper holds the most liquid?
  • Collect enough data to be able to make a good conclusion.
    • 3 trials and an average may not be enough to make a conclusion.

Choosing Projects to Advance

  • ISD will let you know in December how many projects you will be able to send to the district fair. Typically, we allow schools to send 10% of their projects to the district fair.
  • ISD will also send you a letter to give to your science fair finalists with information about project registration and due dates.
