Program Overview

  • Small Database Administrator Certificate- 6 credit hours
    • This program prepares students with skills to build and administer a single-user database, including the designing of tables, queries, forms, reports, and macros. The coursework maps to industry certification  in personal database management.

  •  Data Entry Certificate- 7 credit hours
    • This program prepares students to utilize a keyboard to enter data from source documents into a computer, with students completing tasks such as entering alphabetic, numeric, or symbolic keystrokes. Students learn to compile, sort, and verify the accuracy of data to be entered. Keyboarding accuracy is stressed.

  • Programming Skills Certificate- 9 credit hours
    • This certificate program will prepare students with fundamental programming and database skills. It may serve as a foundation for students who plan to pursue careers in technology, an enhancement to studies in other disciplines, or a means for adding technical credentials to one’s resume.

Cost

  • *25-26’ Tuition: $140 (in-district) per credit hour (1-3 credits)
  • Payment plan available: $25 payment plan fee
  • 25% Deposit due at the time of registration
  • Textbooks/Software: There are required materials for all 3 of these courses. OFT-257 has a textbook only and requires Microsoft Access, OFT-104 has a software/eText combination, and CIS-123 has a textbook only and requires Microsoft Access .
  • Course Fees: $2 per credit hour college activities fee

$10 per credit hour technology fee

$10 per credit hour construction/infrastructure fee

Dual Enrollment

  • Earn college credit while still in high school.

  • Student must provide their own mode of transportation.

  • Final grade is part of your permanent college record

  • All college policies apply.

  • Students pay full tuition; they are not eligible for financial aid

  • Moraine Valley is not responsible for high school graduation credit hours

Dual Enrollment

  • Students must maintain a minimum of 2.0 G.P.A.

    • *Students who fall below the required minimum 2.0 G.P.A. will be limited in their ability to receive financial aid once they enter college and will be placed on Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).

  • Content is not altered to accommodate high school students.

  • Dual Enrollment students must abide by the college calendar.
    • *If your high school is not in-session and Moraine Valley is in-session, you are still required to attend class at Moraine Valley

Drop vs. Withdrawal

Drop

    • 100% Refund
    • Must be dropped as assigned in August for (Fall semester) and January for (Spring semester) .
    • Official drop; Registration Office, S103
    • Does not appear on official transcript

Withdrawal

    • No refund
    • Responsible for tuition balance
    • Must complete by Official withdrawal date as assigned in November for (Fall semester) and April for (Spring semester); Registration Office, S103
    • A grade of “W” will appear on the official transcripts
    • Does not affect GPA but may affect Financial Aid
