Design Challenge Prompt

📨 Design Interactive has a vibrant community of over 150 active members engaged in educational programs, industry events, and social gatherings every quarter. We use a variety of tools such as Slack and Notion to communicate and share resources, but often information and resources get lost. This leads to a disconnect within our community.

💡 How might we design a a communications application that consolidates all of DI's tools and resources into a single, user-friendly platform?

14

14

15 of 32

First Steps

  • Take your time to understand the needs of DI & our community
    • Book office hours with board!
  • Determine what are the most important elements and focus on the usability of these features.
    • Remember: we want to simplify the process
  • We don’t expect a fully fleshed out project. Focus an intuitive and effective solution (Only take 2-3 screens to high fidelity)

15

15

Slide Deck Suggestions

  • More text/written-out explanation than a regular presentation slide deck
    • Point out key ideas, design decisions, and important features
  • Add visuals!
    • Visuals help tell a story
    • Gifs to demonstrate navigation & interactions

the craziest ideas or the

most perfect solution.

17

17

Things to Consider

  • UX Design and Innovation
    1. Determine the problem the user is trying to solve and integrate a clear solution through their work.
    2. Develop original, thoughtful, impactful solutions that translate your findings into actionable and innovative solutions.
  • Visual and Interaction Design
    • Display an understanding of visual design principles and aesthetic taste/style.
  • Communication and Professionalism
    • Articulate your process and design thinking in a clear manner.

🏋️‍♀️ UC Davis Recreation App is the main app university students use to gain access to the ARC facility and help make reservations for all Campus Recreation programs. However, this app is too cluttered and makes it difficult for students to find relevant app features to use.

💡How might we redesign a feature of the UC Davis Campus Recreation app to increase user engagement and retention by providing a streamlined, intuitive user experience?
