Land Acknowledgement

These ancestral lands named Guaulen were stolen from Me-Wuk families and turned into what we call Marin County.

As a reminder, the process of colonization is ongoing and still adversely affects the indigenous people from the Bay Area.

Despite centuries of colonial theft and violence, this is still Indigenous land. It will always be Indigenous land.

With this acknowledgment we affirm our commitment to existing in reciprocity with the land and to learn the histories of its people. We recognize the hundreds of Indigenous Nations who continue to resist, live, and uphold their sacred relations across their lands. We also pay our respect to Indigenous elders past, present, and future and to those who have stewarded this land throughout the generations.

Climber Responsibility and Safety includes where you walk

  • Trails
    • Officially recognized by land manager (on park maps)
    • Lengthy & formal approval process
  • Climber Access Paths
    • Intentional, sustainable route that leads to climbing resources
  • Social Trails
    • Unofficial, user created paths formed from detours over time
    • Often lacking intentional design, leading to sustainability issues
