You can turn tools on or off for use in the Features tab in the Settings

When you change from Horizontal Mode to Vertical Mode, you get the exact same toolbar with all of the same tools turned on for use.

When you are in the Features part of the settings, make sure you have turned on in order to have all of the tools you are used to having:

Looks like Co:Writer
Only the prediction box pops up whenever you place your cursor in an area that you could type. Toolbar is on the bottom of the prediction box.
What about using Writing Mode on websites?
In the future, there will also be a miniature floating toolbar for accessing a few things like creating Topics (word banks) or using Text to Speech.

Using Co:Writer Prediction on the Horizontal or Vertical Modes in Read&Write
The Prediction List is the same and you will find Topics and “123” button for typing numbers at the bottom.
Text to Speech and Talk&Type are located on the main toolbar for use.
