Blueprint is Acalanes’ national award winning student-run newspaper. We have both print and online platforms, each with five sections (news, feature, opinion, arts, sports). Blueprint is a space where students can explore their interests in current events and issues, as well as in writing/artistry.

Last year’s issues →

Blueprint produces eight print issues every year, four per semester. It takes ~4 weeks to produce each issue, which includes writing the stories, making the graphics, and formatting the magazine.

Basic questions about you, your writing experience, and why you think journalism is a good fit for you!

Mock interviews & article based on one of three potential topics (VERY short, just 600-800 words - less than a page)

*Tip: You can prepare for mock interviews by coming up with questions beforehand!

  1. Unknown individual breaks into the Digital Design classroom and steals computer equipment
  2. Seniors drive a car into the Acalanes swimming pool as their senior prank; pool gets temporarily shut down

Start gathering either photos or graphics to submit as a part of your application due on February 4th.

Come to your interview ready to take a photo or make a graphic for a mock story.

  • Choose five high quality photos, one of which should be of an Acalanes High School activity of your choosing.

Or

  • Create 2 unique pieces of artwork for a story of your choice that appeared in any Blueprint issue during 2023 or 2024. You may do them by hand or digitally.
